So you must have seen the trailer of Hope movie and you must definitely be very excited for it. But there will be a question in the mind whether this movie will be released in Hindi or not? So brother, it will come in Hindi also, it will come in Tamil also, it will come in Telugu also, it will come in Malayalam also, it is going to come in multiple languages in India. Along with that, a question was in my mind that friend, it was released in South Korea on 12th July. So I also wanted to know what the response was there. So I am going to tell you its box office collection, and from that you will come to know that this movie could not collect much.

South Korea Box Office and ₹400 Crore Budget

Because in South Korea, this is the most expensive movie in South Korea but there is nothing in comparison to our movies. I think its budget is around Rs 400 crore which would be a huge number for them. But here actors charge this much fees. Now this movie is a South Korean movie. It is a very big movie, from the director of The Wailing. So its hype is definitely very high all over the world and that is why I wanted to see how big an opening it gets in South Korea. But the parameters for measuring movies in South Korea are completely different because their population is very less. Their population is only around 5 crore 20 lakh. So it is a very small population, very small in comparison to ours, very small in comparison to America. Because of this their parameters differ slightly. There the success of the movie was measured by the number of admissions—how many people bought tickets for this?

Till now 2.1 million tickets of this movie have been sold, that means tickets worth around 21 lakh have been sold, which is a very good number. And the current box office collection is the collection of the first five days. Although it was released on 15th July, I have data for only 5 days. And in South Korea, any movie has to sell more tickets than money to become a blockbuster, and the number of tickets for a blockbuster is 10 million—that means 1 crore tickets will have to be sold, 20% of the total population. If 1 crore people buy tickets, then the movie is considered a blockbuster. But the collection that has come out here is only 16 million for now. 16 million in their currency is reaching billions, but let me tell you how much 16 million is in Indian currency on your screen. This movie has collected this much. This movie has already been sold at 200 places, due to which it has already recovered half of its budget.

Now there will be many things here. Its distribution rights may have been sold in multiple countries. But here if they had sold the entire movie, they would have earned more money. There definitely a profit sharing model will also be implemented somewhere. Now I don’t know what they did or not, but they have already recovered half the budget. The remaining depends on how much the movie collects. Now, after hearing this number of 16 million, many people may feel that this is very less, and I also feel that this is very less. But how big is the population inside their country? If we take the example of our country where there are 140 crore people—what is 20% of 140 crores? It is 28 crores. Yes, if my math is correct then it is 28 crores. And 28 crore is such a big number that if we throw one bucket of water each, the entire Korea will be washed away! So from this you can understand why the parameters there are completely different.

Global Release Schedule and Delay Reasons

Rest, this movie has been released only in Korea on 15th July; it has not been released anywhere else yet—not in North Korea (I’m kidding, it won’t enter North Korea), nor was it released in America, Germany, or Spain, nowhere! But let me tell you their release dates. It will be released in the US on September 9, in Germany on October 8, in Latin America on October 30, in Spain on October 30, in Italy on November 5, and in France in November. And in India too, it will be released around the same date.

Now, there is a big reason for not releasing it in July. Many people may wonder whether these people are lazy? No. I think the actual reason is that a monster has been released in the month of July—or should I say two monsters have been released: the first is The Odyssey and the second is Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This movie would have ended between these two movies! Both these movies would have eaten up this movie; no one would even pay attention to it. For this reason it has not been released yet, and according to them the perfect release date is September, October, or November.

And in India too, we will get to see it around the same date and it will be released in Hindi—it will definitely come. Right now there is a YouTube channel Star Entertainment, a very big channel, they shared a video in which we can see in the thumbnail that it is going to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu in multiple languages in theatres in India. But here let’s assume for a moment that the YouTube channel is lying just for views—still, you will 100% get to see this movie in Hindi language, but you will have to wait. This movie will definitely release in theatres; it is a very big Korean movie. Even if something went wrong in between like it happens many times with Hollywood movies (for example, Blade Runner 2049 trailer was released in Hindi but the movie had not come)—100% you will get to watch this movie in Hindi language on OTT, because the fan following of Korean movie series is at a tremendous level in India. You just have to wait till November at maximum.

Story Premise and Na Hong-jin’s 8-Year Sci-Fi Vision

Now, for the rest of the people who do not know about its story and do not know why they should be excited about it: in this we get to see the story of a village where an alien spaceship comes from space. Many aliens come there and all the people there are in great trouble. Aliens are hunting them from all sides. That village seems to have been completely closed; no one is able to get out and everyone is now running here and there to save their lives. But the question arises: what is the alien doing here? The director of The Wailing has spent eight years on this movie. So, did he just make an alien survival movie? Because we have seen many such movies, and if you have seen Korean movies then you will know that these people bring many different things—they will add such things to a simple concept that it will be fun to watch. So that’s why I’m sure this will definitely not be a simple alien survival movie. If you spend 8 years, something different is definitely going to happen in it, and I am very excited for this!
