Overview & Initial Impressions

So guys, another new day and another new Spiderman movie. Everything happened as planned in Spiderman Brand New Day. We got to see similar people, but we never thought that it would end like this.

The Web-Swinging Mechanics & Therapeutic Experience

Well, there are no spoilers in this video, so you can watch this review without any worries. Apart from all these things, one thing I definitely want to tell you is that I feel like abusing John Watts for depriving us of Spiderman’s most beautiful superpower for so many years. Like legit, I should blame him for not showing us Spiderman’s swinging abilities for so many years!

That means, man, Destin Daniel Cretton has shown such beautiful, so graceful, such amazing swinging abilities of Spiderman in this movie that brother, you cannot say any answer to him. Seeing it swing and remain visible from buildings is a therapeutic experience. And I realized after watching the movie that people keep playing Spiderman games just because they want to live that swinging therapeutic experience with Spiderman games. That’s just part of the experience of visiting New York, and that’s what Destin Daniel Cretton does in True to Its Beauty.

Story Premise: Life After No Way Home

Now, if I tell you briefly about a non-spoiler story of the movie, after the events of No Way Home, Peter takes the decision that he will not remind MJ and Ned about who I am and what importance I have in their lives. Because after May leaves, after losing May, he doesn’t want to lose his friends so he doesn’t put them in so much danger. That’s why he leaves everything worldly, friendship, love and gets married to his work and in New York he arrests criminals, sends criminals to jail, arrests people and in the meantime also makes some friends like Punisher.

But one day when Seth Singh’s character begins terrorizing the city with his new abilities inside the DUDC, Peter must channel these advanced powers that emerged from his loneliness to save his city and discover—Spiderman or Peter Parker? And now to know the answer you will have to watch the movie Bhai. Apart from this, the future of Spiderman in the movie, his future in MCU and all the other things shown in the movie, what will be its impact, all those things have been explained in the movie. But I think for now they don’t give you spoilers, you go and experience the movie yourself.

Movie Magic & Nostalgic Emotional Connection

One thing I would say is that Brand New Day creates a movie magic. It means such a magic that you forget all those expectations, the burden of your life, assumptions, theories. It creates a magic that when you go, you say that now I just want to see a spider which I have been enjoying seeing since childhood. I want spiderman.

The movie does not make you feel boring even an iota. It’s fun, chill, a little sad and full of surprises. Meaning that this is the kind of movie which you enjoy to feel alive. And once again after seeing Spiderman on the big screen, I realize what this spider means to my life! I mean, how can every little thing be so relatable? You enjoy with all your heart and forget everything.

Critical Analysis: Pacing, Scale & Misfires

If you don’t get carried away by the bias of Spiderman, then by the end of the movie things start hitting you. Meaning that you start becoming a little self-aware that “Oh, this was not shown like this, they could have done this, ended this quickly, ended this cheaply.” All these things hit when the movie ends at last, because when you are watching the movie, you are enjoying like a small teenager.

There are valid misfires in the movie, I will agree to that. At the end, one feels a little bit that it ended on a very concise scale. And I also understand that it was not written on concept itself to be very widespread. This can’t be blamed on the budget etc. with Spider-Man, but it was a completely creative decision that I think wouldn’t hit everyone as impactfully. As a first experience or first reaction, that thing may not hit you immediately, but when you come out after watching the movie and realize it after some time, then you feel it.

New York Aesthetic & Visual Atmosphere

Apart from this, the only thing I can openly praise in the movie is the praise of Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man world. I mean, the vibe this guy has chosen to show New York is so sweet! The New York that was America’s dream that we had been admiring since childhood – “Oh my God, New York will be like this!” The New York of *Friends* is so chill, full of life, it feels lived-in. It is also understandable that it is a cultural utopia where diversity and every kind of thing exists together.

He has shown that whole aesthetic to you in such a lovely way, especially making Spiderman’s New York live-in. The opening and end credits of the movie were very creative, not conventional. For example, if I give a close comparison, like you saw the montage sequence in the show *The Bear*, where a very vibe of New York is created, where there is a feeling of a little coldness but it is understood that there is still hope in the city, it can grow. The movie gives a very warming feeling in terms of its production design, aesthetic and feel.

Guest Appearances & Action Set-Pieces

The rest of Frank Castle (Punisher), Peter, Hulk and Sadie Singh have the same roles as we have seen in the promotional materials so far. I wouldn’t tell you to expect anything extraordinary. You can go there for the vibe, the atmosphere and the movie magic. Just don’t expect it to be a huge action banger.

Even the teaser-trailer was fine, but from the clips that are shared in between, the movie tells a lot visually. So inevitably when you’re looking at a big action set-piece, there’s not much new being offered—be it the Hulk or Peter’s clash with ‘The Hand’.

Video Game Influences

The movie has a big video game vibe. Meaning that if you have played Insomniac’s Spiderman games, then the way he uses electric rods etc. during the climax fight with ‘The Hand’, you will get the full feel of the Insomniac games.

Editing Quirks: Abrupt Jump Cuts

One little quirk that breaks immersion is abrupt jump cuts. As Peter realizes something is wrong on the ground, then cut to the next shot—he’s jumping straight off the building, which doesn’t make much sense logically. Added it because the atmosphere looks cool, but if you had shown a light transition of 2-4 seconds, it would not have broken the immersion.

Character Dynamics: Punisher, Ned, MJ & Future Teases

If we ignore all these things, I was surprised that they made Punisher look so cool. We have been seeing the Punisher living with trauma for so long, but in this movie the Punisher feels a little healed. Peter and Frank are having a heated argument because no one keeps quiet, but when something funny comes up in the middle of it, it’s nice to see that Frank feels a little healed.

Ned and MJ’s existence shows a contrasting relationship in the movie and explains the narrative. As for Spider-Man’s love interests—let’s have Felicia, Gwen, Debra, etc. in the next movie! Zendaya has become a huge actress, but give other people a chance.

End-Credits & Final Verdict

Finally, the movie has an end-credits scene, not a mid-credits scene. do not miss it! For now, you can watch this movie to live the movie magic of Spiderman Brand New Day. If you haven’t experienced it yet, definitely go and see it!
