Introduction: 4K Trailer Drop and The Return of Marvel Hype
So on 15th August, Marvel Cinematic Universe dropped a brand new trailer of Avengers: Doomsday, and it was such a hard-hitting trailer that it should have arrived as the very first teaser in the first place. All those people and haters who were previously claiming that Marvel is dead and completely over are now lining right back up as fans, saying that Marvel’s real cinema is back. The hype has grown massive and it looks genuinely great, which is the exact intensity and chaos I have been demanding from Marvel for a long time.
Now, I know this is the same teaser that originally leaked from Comic-Con with blurred video and audio where its full gravity could not be properly felt. But now that you watch it in full 4K, you realize that Marvel still holds massive power. Along with this, Marvel has officially teased the presence of Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ voices in Doomsday, which completely confirms that Deadpool and Wolverine will be appearing in the film.
Deadpool, Wolverine and The Destruction of Tobey Maguire’s Universe
As earlier leaks suggested, the X-Men universe will use Deadpool and Wolverine to eliminate Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man universe, and all those rumors now appear to be coming true. According to these leaks, they will have a very important opening role in the first 15 to 20 minutes to set up the incursion crisis, after which we will see why the X-Men made the desperate choice to destroy Tobey’s world to save their own.
If you pay close attention to the Doomsday trailer, we see a shot of a completely destroyed New York skyline. This is obviously not the main Earth-616 New York, but rather the ruined Earth from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man universe. The opening of the movie shows Tobey fighting desperately to the bitter end to protect his Earth before it ultimately collapses.
Doctor Doom’s Deception, Throne Room and The Fall of the TVA
Looking at the rest of the trailer, Doctor Doom is seen sitting comfortably in his throne room with glowing magical runes on the floor, showing that he is actively scheming and plotting. When Sue Storm is shown, she appears visibly emotional while interacting with Doom. Meanwhile, the Avengers and X-Men are shown badly bruised and scuffed because initially, Doom deceives them into believing that incursions are merely a natural calamity that all heroes must unite to stop.
Doom waits until the exact moment to engage his master plan before his deception is exposed. If you look closely at the behind-the-scenes D23 images, the walls of the TVA are shown completely broken and buried in rubble, which means Doom has already cracked the TVA with Miss Minutes so that Loki cannot intervene. Steve Rogers and Thor realize the truth and attack Doom first, but at that point Doom is already too powerful to face, forcing the heroes to retreat and prepare for the ultimate battle.
Doctor Doom’s Grief and The Stolen Lives Philosophy
We also get a closer look at Doom’s personal grief in the trailer, which is tied directly to his mother and family. In this version, Doom originates from Reed Richards’ universe where Reed and Doom share a close friendship, which is why Reed yells at him, “Victor, did you do this?” The trailer makes it clear that the Avengers have significantly tampered with the time stream to live peaceful lives, which created multiversal instability in the first place.
Doom’s motive is rooted in the fact that while Earth-616 lived well, thousands of parallel universes suffered, including Doom’s own family. Similarly, the X-Men tampered with time in Days of Future Past, and Loki allowed countless branching timelines to exist under his “glorious purpose.” Doom holds deep resentment against this imbalance and decides to forcefully establish his own world order, echoing what Thanos originally attempted.
Doom’s Demonic Power Feats and The Climax Setup
The level of power and combat feats Doom displays here makes him look like an absolute demon. His mid-air magic glitch transition into a superhero landing is executed with incredible impact. Furthermore, when Thor charges at Doom, he aims directly for his neck to avoid repeating his past mistake with Thanos, but Doom is already fully prepared, declaring that “Hell answers to me.”
All the action showcased in this teaser is strictly from the first half of the film, because Marvel is keeping the final multiversal battle completely secret. In that final clash, the Avengers and X-Men will attempt to summon multiversal reinforcements through portals, but Doom will already have his countermeasures set. Personally, I hope Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man is not permanently killed early on, but instead drifts through space so he can return for an epic payoff in the final battle against Doom.
