The Post-Gadar Craze and Expectations
So after seeing the craze of Aawarpan 2, I went to see another craze. I mean these people want to take full advantage of the craze of film makers Sunny Paaji’s Gadar and Gadar 2. This was clearly visible. But is it really like Gadar or does it follow the Gadar formula? Let’s talk a bit. Well hello, my name is Yogi and we will meet again and again.
Based on Ajgar Wajahat’s Famous Play
Based on the partition of 1947. And actually this movie is based on Ajgar Wajahat’s play Jis Lahore Nahi Ve Kiya Wo Jamia Hi Nahi. So if you look carefully, this story is totally talking only about Lahore and the time of partition at that time, according to the original play that at the time of partition, there was definitely Hindustan, Pakistan, Hindu-Muslim. That is not hidden from anyone. But it has been shown how some people were making money under the cover of this partition.
The Plot: Shabana Azmi and Sunny Deol
Now here the story is based on a house which is in Lahore and it is a Hindu house played by Shabana Azmi but in the partition that house is allotted to a Muslim played by our Sunny Paaji. So after the first 10-15 minutes, the story just revolves around that house and the people living in that house, in which thank God Shaban Azmi has got more screen time compared to Awaarapan 2. In that, she is just in a cameo role, here the story revolves around her. Now if we look at it, this does not seem to be the typical Hindu-Muslim India-Pakistan story. But yes, since this is a story of partition, that angle will definitely be seen and it is not a bad thing to call it out, I guess. But in many places it also seems to be forst.
Casting Flaws: Abhimanyu Singh’s Dialect
Okay, from Force I remember who the hell is, casting director brother. The first misslet character is Abhimanyu Singh as Pakistani Punjabi. No, he is a very good actor brother. But he is neither speaking Punjabi nor Pakistani Urdu nor is he able to speak Hindi properly. Everything got mixed up, right Babu? And he is speaking in such a tone that it seems that he has memorized that language and not studied it.
Karan Deol’s Performance and Brotherly Advice
And the second missed cast is Sunny Deol ‘s son. Look, there are some actors who make the name of their actor parents very famous. But look Karan Deol bhai, I want to give you advice like an elder brother. If you believe it then it is fine, if you don’t believe it then it is also fine. First of all, never keep a clean shave. And if you act in some more films and gain experience and then do a big film, then maybe something will happen. Here he has been cast only because of Sunny Paaji’s 28 kg hand. It seemed like that.
Sunny Deol’s Characterization and Period Attire
Moreover, if we leave aside the climax, Sunny Paaji is playing a Muslim character from any angle. It doesn’t seem like it. All the people standing in front of him were either wearing Pathani or kurta or long coat. Kajal in the eyes etc. and proper attire that they used to have in those days. C I am talking about that era. A lot has changed today, friend. Everyone became modern. But today’s modern times were not there then, sir.
Emotional Climax and Forceful Messaging
Well, if I talk about the climax, it was emotional but again in the attempt to give the message of Hindu-Muslim brotherhood, which is not wrong. But because of that the scene has been made forceful. And I think the entire film industry fraternity should now understand that you should not invest money on such content. Today’s times will not give importance to such topics unless their making is at least like that of a great one. Now India will decide the future of Pakistan.
Film Execution, Audience, and AR Rahman’s Music
So overall, if I say so, the film is not bad brother. People who belong to an emotional category will like it. Since it is from the old times, the filming has also been done as per the old times. So there is no problem in that also. Well, even AR Rahman sir’s music is not able to save this film, brother, this is a big problem. Where nowadays people are reaching the theatre just by hearing the name of Anirudh. Despite the presence of a legend like AR Rahman, only I and my brother, that is, only two people, were sitting and watching the movie in the theatre. Thanks to the theatre people for showing the movie.
Box Office Clash, Family Audience, and Final Verdict
Anyways movie is pure family friendly. And if you want to watch it then go with the whole family. Especially elder ladies like mother, aunt, maternal aunt, grandmother, etc., they will cry brother, you will definitely see. But where vagrancy is eating up theaters, the division doesn’t seem to last for now. Clash should have been avoided. Overall, I would like to give this film 2.5 out of five stars. It’s a pure average film. But the things I am not able to tell here, because of spoilers.
